from goodreads:
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object in the field of death?
In the dark underbelly of the mob, Tristan Caine has been an anomaly. As the only non-blooded member in the high circle of the Tenebrae Outfit, he is an enigma to all - his skills unparalleled, his morality questionable, and his motives unknown. He is lethal and he knows it.
As does Morana Vitalio, the genius extraordinaire daughter of the rival family. What Caine does with weapons, Morana does with computers. When a twenty-year old mystery resurfaces, Morana infiltrates Caine's house, intent on killing him, unaware of a tie that binds them together. Hate, heat, and history clash together with unexpected sparks.
But something bigger, something worse is happening in their world. And despite their animosity, only they can fight it down.
my review:
the predator was a good book. the heat between the two mafia families was really interesting to follow. i wanted to love this book so bad because there was a lot of interesting things going on but it just didn't do it for me. yeah it was interesting but it did not draw me in like i expected it to.
tristan caine is your typical hard ass mafia man but he has a soft spot for protecting women. he was a hard ass since he was just a boy. the tenebrae took him in as if he were their own but did not treat him as such. tristan lowkey had a rough life as a child but that made him this boss in adulthood. i felt so much for him throughout the book, learning why he was the only non-blood member, the reason he hated morana, just everything was heart wrenching.
morana, a mafia baddie with brains (sort of). she was kind of a miss for me because for being someone who was so badass and super smart to create all these systems and whatnot, AND a part of this huge mafia family? she kind of did some dumb shit. only she would sneak in and get let off and still be a dummy and get caught up a few times after and of course get rescued by the enemies. i do also feel for her because her dad was definitely a piece of shit. he is the reason that i had a soft spot for morana because i felt so bad for everything she had to endure and him not stick up for her not one bit. i love that she had the tenebrae family there for her but she had no one that truly cared for her, besides amara.
they had potential to be a steamy couple but it was definitely a miss. they had their sexy scenes, especially the bathroom scene in the restaurant!!!! but all they did was stare at each other any chance they had, kind of weird in my opinion but if that was steamy for you then all power to you. but they just were not a hot mafia couple.
learning about their pasts and why tristan hated amara and amara's family history, specifically with her mom, was the reason i liked this book and kept reading. i wanted to know what his big secret was and why he had a soft spot for women, especially protecing amara and morana. that is what kept me interested but it wasn't thrilling like i wanted it to be. all in all it was a good story could have worked through their staring issues and developed it a little more but it was a good quick read.
