from goodreads:
Alone in the City of Love on Valentine's Day–until my best friend makes a a Parisian affair. But is one day worth risking our friendship?
When my ex ditches me after yet another failed attempt to rekindle our relationship, I don't hesitate when my best friend Ollie tells me to meet him in Paris.
But when he takes me out for Valentine's Day, all of our boundaries shatter. He fills me with chocolate and champagne and whispers naughty things in my ear that tell me that night we spent together three months ago has been running through his head on repeat, too.
And our inability to keep our hands off each other has me wondering if there's something more here.
But when Ollie isn't vacationing, he's a workaholic. He's emotionally unavailable and "can't be the person I want him to be."
But I still turn to mush every time he calls me Wildflower. Every time I see the drawings he did of me in Paris that prove he sees me.
And I start to think Ollie might be the big love I've been searching for.
I just hope I can make him see that, too.
my review:
okay i definitely ate this book up. i was waiting for this book to come out for forever. 4.5 rounded up to 5. i loved steph and ollie from namaste and code all day and i was really excited to read their story and it did not disappoint. if i could use one word to describe this book it would be chemistry because the chemistry was there, always. the friends to lovers trope seemed a little iffy to me but it worked out just fine and is probably my favorite book from ally yet!!

steph has always been a badass. from all the snippets of her in the other books to actually knowing her own story i just fell in love with her. i really love the growth that she has from each of the other books and definitely throughout this one. she found out who she truly was and what she truly deserves in life. she fits in seamlessly wherever she’s thrown in and really cares for what people want,
ollie is a typical man who wants what they want but doesn’t want to put in the work until he really wants to. i loved finding out more about ollie and his background and it makes his whole POV of everything make sense but doesn’t give him an excuse. i really loved his growth throughout this book as well! the love, the art, everything is just swoooon worthy!
one of my favorite things in books is cameos but i guess these cameos make sense because they’re all so interconnected. either way i eat it up every time. i feel like every cameo you learn a little more about the characters that you didn’t get from the other books and its great.
this is my third book and third arc from ally. i have read all books published in the love & city lights series and this is by far my favorite one! i received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. thank you to ally and her team and i can’t wait to read what’s next!!
favorite quotes:
“but i can become the best version of myself, and that is something to look forward to.”
“growth follows discomfort. you’re in the uncomfortable before”
